After losing a son to gun violence, The CEO, Veronica Howard and Head Football Coach, James Howard have dedicated their lives to assuring young men have the best tools needed in order to succeed. The Howard Huskies which was formerly the Cleveland Patriots, was founded in 2014 by Dennis Briggs. Veronica Howard stepped into the team’s first season at the midseason mark and has been an instrumental part of their football success. Since the tragic death of her son in 2011, she has taken the organization in a new direction which has become a platform for young men in the community to escape the violence that plagues their streets. This quality program has been successfully developed under the coaching and direction of her husband of 33 years.
The Howard Huskies Preparatory Post-Graduate Academy Organization will provide a support system that will continue for a lifetime. The objective of the organization is to promote, sponsor and advance amateur football competition among young men. Along with a quality coaching staff, the program will provide a partnership with a local community college for use of NCAA approved accredited courses and work-out facilities. Provides housing to those in need as well as emotional and mental support to all our athletes.
“…it is our mission to build good character while saving lives” -Veronica Howard

Their work, sparked by the tragic loss of their son to gun violence in 2011, has had a profound impact on the community, leading to the creation of the Howard Huskies Preparatory Post-Graduate Academy. The academy aims to foster academic success, character growth, and athletic achievements among young men while serving as a platform for gun violence prevention advocacy. Since the program's enactment, Ronny and James have mentored hundreds of young men in the community.
In addition to their work with the academy, Ronny and James have committed themselves to the fight against gun violence by joining forces and leading Brady Cleveland.
