James Howard |
James Howard is entering his first season with HH Prep, serving as Head Coach. Howard brings a wealth experience to the program. He has recently served as the defensive coordinator at Normandy High School in 2017-2019. Grad assistant defensive linebacker coach for Lake Erie

In addition, Howard was the assistant head coach/ co-offensive coordinator/linebackers coach in 2014 at Ledgemont High School. From 2008-2010 he was the co-defensive coordinator/ defensive backs coach for Shaker Heights High School, where his 2009 defensive unit led the Lake Erie League with 19 interceptions. Howard had the privilege of coaching Travis and Jason Kelce at Cleveland Heights High School, where he served as thee co-offensive coordinator in 2006-2007, and co-quarterbacks coach in 2005. Both brothers earned All- Big East honors of the University of Cincinnati. Travis was a third round draft pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, and Jason was a 6th round draft pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011. Both brothers recently made the Pro Bowl. Jason made it as a center in 2015, and Travis earned the spot at tight end in 2016.
Howard has also served as head coach in minor league/semi pro football teams. He helped the Arlington Seahawks win the 2014 Texas United Football League AA Championship in his first year as head coach. He also led the Cleveland Patriots in both the 2014 Ohio Football League–Northern Conference Championship Game, and the 2016 Premiere Amateur Football League Playoffs.
As a player Coach Howard played three years fir the Cleveland Heights H.S as a cornerback and punt returner, helping the Tigers to three winning seasons. His junior year he led the Lake Erie League with nine interception; His senior season he was First Team All LEL and All Ohio Honorable Mention. Howard was a member if r NAIA Central State University for two seasons (1995-1986), where he played defensive back, cornerback and punt returner. In 1992, Howard had a tryout with the Toronto Argonausts of the Canadian Football League.
